How we’re built right now (a year-ish in)
TLDR we use external APIs for foundations and we have proprietary algorithms that do the rest.
The Duune mobile app operates as a surf forecasting platform that aggregates and processes data from multiple external APIs to provide comprehensive wave, wind, tide, and environmental conditions for Southern California surf spots.
We use Spitcast API for foundational wave height and. However, this integration requires proprietary algorithmic tweaking to provide LA-based forecasts.
NOAA supplies data using station-specific identifiers configured for each surf spot.
